THE government last week approved the appointment of Mr Mazlan
Bin Muhammad as Malaysia’s new ambassador to Myanmar.
The 51-year-old career diplomat will replace Mr Shaharuddin
Bin Mohamad Som, who left Myanmar in October after serving two
years in Yangon.
Mr Mazlan has served at Malaysian missions in Beijing; New York;
Chennai, India; and Tehran, Iran, during his 26-year diplomatic
career.
Mr Mazalan served as his country’s ambassador to Iran
for three years from 2001, the announcement said.
The Malaysian embassy in Yangon said Mr Mazlan was expected
to arrive in Yangon in the next few weeks.
